New York State Committed to Clean Energy Industry Through COVID-19 Crisis

In a letter addressed to members of the clean energy industry, state leaders in New York expressed their commitment to the clean energy industry through the COVID-19 crisis. Though the health and well-being of New Yorkers remains the priority, it is clear that achieving energy and climate goals are still mission critical. In fact, the letter notes that a vibrant clean energy industry will be key to the state’s recovery following the crisis. It is signed by the heads of NYSERDA, New York State Public Service Commission, New York Power Authority, Long Island Power Authority, and New York State Department of Environmental Conservation.
Central to the state’s plan is hearing directly from clean energy businesses and employees. Over the coming months, these agencies are seeking input into the unique challenges the clean energy industry is facing and suggestions for solutions. Already, the state held an Energy Efficiency and Heat Pump Focused Input Session on March 27. Engagement will continue in sector specific manner, including the following sectors:
Though Governor Andrew Cuomo recently extended his “New York on PAUSE” order through April 29, these agencies remain hard at work in virtual settings, ready to support the clean energy industry.
