We applaud Governor Mills’ signing of LD 91, An Act to Eliminate Gross Metering. Sponsored by Representative Seth Berry (D-Bowdoinham), the bill will ensure that consumers are fairly compensated for the solar energy they produce and consume behind the meter and the surplus energy they supply to the grid. This important legislation will save consumers money, accelerate job growth and help the State deploy more distributed generation in pursuit of its renewable energy goals. As Maine takes this important stride forward, NECEC urges Connecticut to follow in Maine’s footsteps to pass HB7251 and reverse the harmful net metering policy enacted last session, which will provide comparable benefits for the state of Connecticut.
