As part of the New England Clean Energy Council’s (NECEC) Third Annual Connecticut Clean Energy Day, executives representing NECEC member companies will visit the Connecticut State Capitol tomorrow to showcase the state’s vibrant clean energy industry and the benefits it provides Connecticut.
“Connecticut clean energy companies are bringing new technologies to market and delivering important renewable energy and energy efficiency services to businesses and residents both within Connecticut and throughout the region, making our energy cleaner and more affordable,” said New England Clean Energy Council President Peter Rothstein. “We look forward to showcasing the state’s growing clean energy businesses and honoring the public and elected officials who show great leadership in advancing clean energy in Connecticut.”
NECEC, the lead voice for hundreds of clean energy companies across New England, influencing the energy policy agenda and growing the clean energy economy, released its 2015 Connecticut Policy Priorities today, which outline key legislative priorities to advance clean energy in Connecticut. As part of Connecticut Clean Energy Day, NECEC will present its 2015 Clean Energy Champion awards during a reception tomorrow, February 25, from 4:30pm to 6:00pm in Room 310 of the State Capitol. This year, NECEC’s Connecticut Clean Energy Champion Awards go to State Representative Laura Hoydick, Connecticut Department of Energy and Environmental Protection (DEEP) Deputy Commissioner Katie Dykes, and Director of Government Affairs in the Office of Governor Dannel P. Malloy, Paul Mounds.
"I am pleased to accept NECEC's Clean Energy Champion Award on behalf of everyone in our state who has played a part in putting Connecticut on track for a cheaper, cleaner, more reliable energy future," said CT DEEP Deputy Commissioner Katie Dykes. "We have become a national energy leader by expanding cost-effective efficiency programs, deploying renewable energy sources, improving the reliability of our energy systems, and planning for the future. This has been a successful team effort lead by Governor Malloy and the General Assembly and moved forward through the hard work, support, and cooperation of countless people in state government, private industry, the utility sector, and among foundations and other non-government organizations."
Connecticut Clean Energy Day showcases the growing vitality of the clean energy industry and the importance of consistent policy support as a means of catalyzing the state and regional economy. Connecticut Clean Energy Champion awards are awarded to lawmakers and public officials who go above and beyond to advance clean energy in Connecticut.
