Schneider Electric, Deepwater Wind and ACRE Honored with 2016 Green Tie Gala Awards

NECEC (The Northeast Clean Energy Council and NECEC Institute) tonight announced its Ninth Annual “Green Tie Gala” awards, honoring Schneider Electric, Deepwater Wind and ACRE for their leadership and contributions to the region’s leading clean energy economy.

“The clean energy industry has hit an inflection point on the path to transitioning the US—and much of the world—to a new energy system. We can foresee a time in the near future when all new energy investments will be in clean, advanced, responsive, resilient, sustainable energy systems,” said NECEC President Peter Rothstein. “We congratulate tonight’s winners for their contributions of innovative business models, leading technologies, and significant deployment of clean energy in our region.”

2016 Green Tie Gala Company Award Winners & Finalists:

Startup Supporter of the Year Winner: ACRE, a cleantech, smart grid and sustainable, smart cities incubator in Brooklyn, New York, affiliated with NYU, that supports early stage business ventures with innovative technologies and new business models for a greener, smarter and more connected world.

2016 Startup Supporter of the Year Finalists:

  • Worcester CleanTech Incubator

Emerging Company of the Year: Deepwater Wind, a wind project developer out of Providence, Rhode Island, which built the first offshore wind project in the US, the five-turbine Block Island Wind Project was completed this summer off the coast of Rhode Island.

Clean Energy Company of the Year: Schneider Electric, which develops connected technologies and solutions to manage energy and processes for utilities, industry, smart cities and others in ways that are safe, reliable, efficient and sustainable

NECEC’s 9th Annual Green Tie Gala was held at the Renaissance Boston Waterfront Hotel and attracted nearly 500 business leaders and stakeholders in the clean energy industry, including company CEOs, government officials, service providers, academics, venture investment firms, labor and large commercial end-users and area utilities. The event included a keynote speech by Rhode Island Governor Gina Raimondo.
