NECEC Statement on Governor Baker's Veto of Landmark Climate Bill

Thursday, January 14, 2021

BOSTON - NECEC today released the following statement in response to Massachusetts Governor Charlie Baker’s veto of Senate Bill 2995, An Act creating a next-generation roadmap for Massachusetts climate policy:

"NECEC is disappointed Governor Baker passed on this opportunity to demonstrate Massachusetts' climate, clean energy, and environmental justice leadership by vetoing this landmark bill,” said NECEC President Peter Rothstein. “We urge the Legislature to promptly refile and pass the Climate Bill so that the Governor's concerns may be addressed. This must be a decade of climate action, and we can't afford to delay this process any longer."

NECEC last week sent a letter to Governor Baker urging him to sign the legislation into law and this week co-lead a separate letter to the Governor from the Alliance for Clean Energy Solutions (ACES).
