BOSTON - NECEC today released the following statement on the passage of the Act of Climate by the Rhode Island House of Representatives:
"With the passage by the House of Representatives of the Act on Climate, Rhode Island has taken an important step towards achieving net-zero carbon emissions by 2050," said Peter Rothstein, NECEC President. "This bill will set mandatory goals for the state to reduce greenhouse gas emissions over the next 30 years and lays the groundwork for transitioning to a majority of clean energy resources. Now the legislature must put the finishing touches on the bill and send it to Governor McKee for his signature so we can put Rhode Island on a path towards an equitable, sustainable clean economy."
